In 1921, Suburban Transit System began operating in Oak Lawn and neighboring southwest suburbs, under name South West Towns Bus Line. In 1938 it was renamed to Suburban Transit System and in 1983 it was sold to RTA. In 1962 the company acquired five GM TDH-5105 buses from Dayton and in 1965 two TDH-5105 buses from Connecticut. In 1967, all these buses (with exception of coach 128) were destroyed in a tornado. They were replaced by ex-Columbus buses. [Photo: A. J. Reinschmidt]
